Frequently asked questions
Does resizing reduce image quality?
Shrinking an image keeps it sharp. Enlarging beyond 100 percent cannot invent new detail, so very large upscales may look soft.
Can I resize multiple photos to the same width?
Yes. Set just a width, keep the aspect ratio locked, and every image in the batch comes out that wide with its height adjusted automatically.
What is the maximum output size?
10,000 pixels per side. Larger requests are scaled down to fit that limit.
Does the resizer change the file format?
By default the output keeps the original format. You can also choose PNG, JPEG, or WebP explicitly.
What size should I resize images to for Instagram?
Use a width of 1080 pixels: 1080x1080 for square posts, 1080x1350 for portrait, and 1080x566 for landscape. Resize to a 1080 px width with the aspect ratio locked and Instagram will not need to shrink your upload.
How do I make an image smaller for email?
Resize it to around 1200 px on the long side, which looks sharp on any screen but is a fraction of the original weight. For even smaller attachments, run the result through the compressor as well.
How do I resize an image to exact dimensions, like 800x600?
Switch to pixel mode and enter both the width and the height. With the aspect ratio locked the image is fitted inside that box without distortion; untick it if you want the image stretched to exactly those dimensions.
