    How to remove a background from a photo

    How does the background remover work?

    An open-source AI segmentation model runs directly in your browser using WebAssembly. It detects the subject and makes everything else transparent.

    Why is the first run slow?

    The AI model (about 40 MB) is downloaded and cached on first use. After that, processing starts immediately.

    Are my photos private?

    Completely. The AI runs on your own device. Your photos are never uploaded, which is rare among background removal tools.

    What format is the result?

    A PNG with a transparent background by default. PNG is lossless, so photo cutouts can be larger than the original file; choosing WebP output keeps the transparency at a much smaller size. Either way the result is ready to place on any design.

    Can I remove the background from a logo?

    Yes. Logos with clear shapes and strong contrast cut out especially well, and the transparent PNG result drops straight into presentations, websites, or print work.

    Is this good for product photos on eBay, Etsy, or Shopify?

    Yes. Cleanly lit product shots are ideal for the AI. The transparent result can be placed on the pure white background most marketplaces prefer, using any editor.

    Is there a watermark or a limit on free background removals?

    No watermark, ever, and no daily limit. You can process up to 5 images per batch and run as many batches as you like, completely free.
